13 December

Please pardon the delay. We have been celebrating our arrival!

We crossed the line at 10:10 on the 11th, finishing 5th in our class and 31st out of 227 boats. We did not manage to break the 30 barrier, but are very happy with our position none the less.

The handicaps have not yet been applied. When they have been, we hope to move little further up the fleet, as most of the boats ahead of us will 'give us time', being generally larger.

We were warmly welcomed with klaxons wailing and cool rum punch waiting. Each finisher gets the same noisy recognition. It's been great to meet the crews of boats we had radio contact with at sea. We were often locked in friendly battle with these guys and swapping stories has been fun.

At the time of writing 109 boats have arrived, so 118 are still out there.

Monday was election day here and the incumbents of 30 years were ousted. Today is a national holiday so the island has adjusted its pace of life from dead slow to stop. Nothing else to do but laze in the sun and have a cool drink.  We think we deserve it.

Thanks to all those who have followed  our progress, and particular thanks to the wives and families who have supported our little adventure.

Lot's of love from the crew of L'Isme. See you all soon .....
