IMPORTANT NOTE:
ROADPOST, MY IRIDIUM SERVICE PROVIDER, PROVIDED ME WITH A WRONG PHONE NUMBER
(TYPO). THE CORRECT PHONE NUMBER IS:
8816-214-21590.
That was why your SMS messages were not answered - It was not that I was
ignoring them. I apologize for the mix up.
Note 2: There is another version of this webpage, which contains a map:
http://alex.turing.com/sweetweather. It was put together by Alex.
Otherwise, it was:
Yet another week in Paradise. We do not mind it at all. Not much is
happening, but we have no room for boredom, strangely enough. The weather
is great: no rain over last week, in spite of the rainy season. Actually, we
are looking forward to some rain as we a running out of fresh water which is
not easily available here.
I am greatly encouraged with further improvement in my breathing - the air
here is great, no pollution whatsoever. I rescheduled the transit through
Panama Canal for June 12. We are getting real late, but I'd rather be safe
than sorry.
There is about ten - twelve boats in Eastern Holandes lagoon at any time,
six of us are "long timers" - staying here longer than a week. We are
socializing a bit, especially with some long time cruisers, who have great
stories to tell and always have a helpful advise. Sig and Carol on "Mary T"
have been in their fourteen year of circumnavigation. They have to get to
San Pedro, CA to close the circle but they do not seem to be in rush. They
feel they have been moving too fast in the past. We have had many long
conversations/discussions with Sig on boats, engines, history, philosophy,
politics. I have enjoyed them thoroughly and Sig seems to be interested in
spite, or perhaps, because of him being rather "liberal" vs. "conservative"
myself. I will miss "Mary T".
Last Thursday we got a permission from the "sahila" (local chief) to burn
our plastic and paper garbage on one of the islands. That turned into a nice
party which lasted over three hours. I stayed away from the smoke, of
course.
