Day 3

Yesterday was quite light with “channel” chop pushing the boat around. Today with 4000m of water under us it is more of a gentle swell of about 1m. After lots of play with Autopilot, we have a better balance  of wheel movement and directional stability.  We have had surges of 12.5knots boat speed so far but today we are sitting in the 7’s with occasional 8’s. With the A2 up we can’t quite go in the direction that we would like, but we are only 10 degrees off. So could be worse. First bit of damage today, noticed we have a small tear in the A2 from a spreader tip and a wrap around the forestay, it has taken 1.5 hours after a couple of failed relaunches and discovering the tear but we are back up to speed.

We are also using a prolific amount of power somewhere in the region of 150 amp hours a day. More work to do on reducing the autopilot movements.

Happy campers on  Fidelitas, missing you all.
