Fai Tira in Falmouth 50:09.54N 5:04.02W

Last night was blowing a gale.  I had previously been fishing and caught nothing as usual. After that we headed into Falmouth for a bite to eat and the odd pint!!  We had a nice night and everything was going great, returning to Fai Tira at about 11.00.  We hit the sack and the wind increased dramatically up to gale force. The boat was swinging around on its mooring and the lines kept catching on the anchor on the bow.   This made a loud bang about every minute or so.  It had to be sorted!!  So I climbed out of my bunk clad in underpants and T shirt, (not a pretty sight) and sorted it out as best I could.  It was cold and wet out there not to mention pitch black.  I got back into my bunk and started to dose when there was an almighty noise coming from the stern.  I knew what it was straight the way.  The wind had dislodged the fishing rod and it had blown into the spinning wind generator.  Two things now happened.  The first the fishing rod disintegrated and secondly the blades on the generator lost about three inches of off each blade.  This made it go out of balance so I had to switch it off.  I could have kicked myself what a PRAT!!! for leaving the rod there.  Back to my bunk again.  Next there was still banging from the anchor so up I got again.  I had to rearrange the mooring lines completely, no mean feat in a gale, but I managed it.  Back to my bunk again feet freezing but couldn’t sleep due the fact I was thinking about the wind generator.  What a PRAT!!

The morning arrived we had breakfast and I started to repair the wind generator.  The wind was still blowing a gale but I managed to dismantle it and sawn the blades down so that they are now the same length.  Lets hope it works!!

The rest of the day saw us visiting the National Maritime Museum and then heading back to Fai Tira for the evening.

The wind is dropping now so I might be able to get the wind generator fitted back together.

Bye for now.
