Photos taken at Makemo Atoll

Entrance to the Makemo Atoll pass. We had to
abandon the first attempt due to a strong outgoing tide.

We then moved to another anchorage on Makemo

John was steering, David was up the mast spotting
Coral heads and I was on the front doing nothing in particular.

These are the coral heads we needed to avoid.
Eventually
we arrived to meet up with the other boats.

We went for a walk along the beach before we met up
for a sundowners party.

We found young conga eels waiting for the tide to come
in.
Also
hermit crabs which we later raced.

We watched the sunset which produced a phenomena of
two blue streaks in the sky. None of us had seen this before.
We all looked hard for the green flash!!!

The men enjoying the ambiance.
(beer)
Wives
were invited to.

The next morning we went to the shallow pools on the
seaward side. This is Marg from Peregrina enjoying the experience.

Yes there were baby Black Tip Sharks there as well as
Octopus all in less than two foot of water.

It is such a beautiful unspoilt place.
More photos later from Tahanea with even bigger
sharks.
