Last night we had a swim in the Saragossa Sea
before dinner it was amazing to think that there was 4.7 kilometres of water
below us !! jp reckons he hit the bottom when he jumped in, which he may well
have done it took so long for him to come up!
It's flat calm out here and we have been motoring
with no wind for the last 45 hours! and will be 48 (days and nights) by the time
we arrive.
We had a pleasant visitor this morning it was 60
foot long and blew water and air from it's spout and waas asleep on the surface
when we approached! Lying on the surface was a
whale with a bottle nose and a dolphin shaped fin,... any idea what kind of
whale it was?
Mike went up the mast and got some great video of
it in action.
Then right in the middle of lunch we were
entertained by a school of dolphins (about 20) all of them jumping out of the
water at the same time and swimming alongside of the boat, what a sight that
was! normally schools of dolphins swim very close to your boat when you happen
upon them but these Bermudan types seem to be a bit shy and not as interested in
us as we would like.
We now have land in sight and should be tied
up in St.Georges Harbour tonight. We plan to stay 2 nights and if the weather is
good for us head off again but if not we will wait untill the weather
window is right, as we have a few days to spare. We have a few small
repairs to attend to mainly the main sail which has needed a stitch at the baton
pockets for some time and our wind instruments are on the blink, but should be
sorted by a trip up the mast in port.
When we get to an internet cafe we hope to post a few more pictures,
out for a while as we negotiate this tricky harbour entrance!
