Catou

Catou arrived back in Southampton on 23rd May and
was off-loaded on the 25th May. We just made it up the gangway of the ship
- in time to see Catou in slings and half-way over the side of the ship and
ready for launching. They brought her deck-to-deck level so we could climb
aboard, and by the time we had un-locked her, opened the sea-cocks and
started the engine, the slings had been removed and we were
afloat. After re-connecting the
back-stays and sorting out some of the rigging, we set off for Lymington some 15
miles away. There was a container ship approaching Southampton docks as we
were leaving - see photos - particularly the last one with Sylvie's _expression_
(I said 'look scared'!). We arrived in Lymington at about
6pm.
Catou was lifted out
the next day for a jet-wash, scrub, scrape, clean and
anti-foul painting. We also decided to have her re-waxed and polished
after her voyage. We discovered that the sterntube bearing was rather worn
and one of the main prop-shaft seals required replacement, so there are a
few jobs to sort out. While she is in Lymington, we also want to have
some of electronics sorted out where we have a couple of issues.
By the end of June, we
hope to have Catou at her new berth in Brixham marina in south
Devon.
Best wishes
