We left Mayreau in the morning and had a lovely short sail SSW (around the NW corner of Union Island) and then southwards to our next stop of Carriacou.  The pilot book states that there is one petrol station and over one hundred rum shops on Carriacou!  This lovely island 'belongs' to Grenada, together with it's tiny neighboring island of Petit Martinique.  All the rest of the Grenadine islands 'belong' to St. Vincent to the north. The capital and only town, is called Hillsborough.  This is a 'point of entry' into Grenada, and the skipper has to make sure that the correct immigration procedures are carried out, by taking all crew's passports and the ship's papers ashore to the local immigration office to complete formalities.  Then a visit to customs for clearance and production of exit papers from last 'foreign' port.

Once we had cleared, Sylvie and I took a walk around the deserted town (it was Monday, but was a bank holiday).  We found a beachside bar open, so after a beer, we took a couple of cold drinks back for Pam and Brian who were still on board.

In the afternoon Pam and Brian took the dinghy ashore to see the small town and see if anywhere might be open for dinner in the evening - but they drew a blank, so we ate on board again that evening.  In the afternoon, there had been two or three violent gusts of wind off the hills, and though the anchor was holding well, I really didn't fell like leaving 'Catou' unattended.  However, the decision was made for us, since everywhere was closed!
