LEVINGTON June 4th-10th 2008

Richard, Jon and Peter moved Callidus across to Levington on Thursday 4th June in preparation for the Classic Boat Rally at Suffolk Yacht Harbour at the weekend. They drifted in after a gentle run across Harwich roads anbdf harbour.

I went over with solar panels, car radio plus motley bits and a heap of tools to fit them before our leg to Falmouth. Friday was solid rain all day. Peter did a sterling 3 hours in the bilges sorting the electrics - but finding several poor connections didn't help the mains charging problem and the unit was returned for testing  Alternator charges fine though abd even the solar panels were adding a few hundred milliamps. These were fitted to the coachroof under a plastic sheet requiring a number of palstic melting visits to the chandlers for suitable screws and grommets. The sealant dissolved in the rain, even though it was labelled as waterproof! Have to redo it. Carol's car/CD player radio didn't like Callidus's electrons again as it didn't work after an initial burst of confidence, despite working happily at home connected to my spare caravan battery for 2 days!

Peter located & stopped several deck leaks (rain drips) which was the only advantage of the lousy weather. The boat got a bit more of a clean and sort out and Jana arrived for the weekend. We all ended up in the lightship for dinner with Ed from Mistley. A few beers and bottles of wine made for a very convivial evening and we went to bed very happy after a good day's work.
