Our position is 40.58.572N 003.04.099E we are off the coast of Spain just down from Barcelona although we cannot see land as we are some way off the coast.

Our first night of the passage at sea went according to plan with no incidents - calm seas and very few other boats around.

We've got the Mainsail and Genoa up and have spent much of the day sailing with 1 engine running helping us along and to keep our systems going. We have been averaging between 7 and 8 knots as planned. The seas a a bit more bumpy than yesterday but no rain and wind of between 10 and 20 knots.

A small Wren like bird landed on the boat yesterday evening as we were having dinner. It seemed to be acting to get out of the enclosed saloon area at the stern so we gently caught it and he,led it out of the back only for it to come full speed back to us on board again. It was quite a long way from land and seemed very tired. We put food and water out for it and in the morning it was gone. Food, lodgings and a good nights rest was obviously all it needed.

This afternoon we've had a school of dolphins swimming along in our bow wave under the boat but we've not seen any whales today.

We had a South African speciality lunch today "boerewors rolls" with a delicious sauce - salmon, couscous and roasted vegetables for dinner. Coupled with a fair amount of sitting around we can see this diet is going to have to be worked off back in land!

We have 519 nautical miles to go to Gibraltar - we expect at this pace to be there as planned just after lunchtime on Thursday 29th - subject to the weather.
