4th April 2010 -Easter Sunday

Oh to be in England now that April’s there; perhaps also, like Browning’s thrush, to recapture the first fine careless rapture. Not too sure that would be appropriate for this date, though…

Back from the Tioman Islands, No1 son and Scouser John back to the UK via the fleshpots (!) of Singapore, so it’s me to close down the boat for the summer and come back to Blighty, mighty cold though it still seems to be.

Tioman was worth it, very pretty and good snorkelling etc, but too small to base the boat for any length of time, and not much support to be found. Sebana Cove, en route back, was spiralling ever downwards, dying slowly of neglect.

Puteri, though, has much more promise – a purpose-built, sensibly designed marina with goodish transport links. But not many nice places to which to day sail. So it looks like back to Langkawi or even across to Borneo, come the turn of the monsoon again. But meantime, there’s Flaming June, a 60th bash, and the South West monsoon winds for a balmy return to Tioman and the Gulf. We shall see…..
