With a gale forecast, Melvyn has made for Vestmannaeyjar off the south coast of Iceland (as opposed to heading straight for Reykjavik).  These islands are known as the Westman Islands.

He might have been winding me up when he text to say 'I've arrived in Iceland at an island called Vestmannaeyjar on puffin catching day....'.  He later text to say they smoked them...presumably not in Rizlar rolling papers....?  Wikapedia tells me:
Each May, bird watchers flock to the Westman Islands (also known as 'Vestmannaeyjar') located 32km (20 miles) south of mainland Iceland to view the return of the magnificent puffin birds after a long winter at sea. One of Iceland's great natural wonders, millions of these striking birds return each spring to mate and lay eggs (which hatch later in the year creating another incredible sight with the 'flight of the pufflings' each October, which sees the young birds try to fly the nest for the first time).

No word yet as to what he had for his tea.....!
