Having a great last few days . Ran the engine for the 4 th time this trip to make water . Skipper’s battery neurosis being well under control as he worships at the altar of sola PV.
We have settled into between 145 and 150 mile days the wind has gone slightly south of east still 15 to 22 knots . We are hopeful we will hit just north of Barbados midday tomorrow. We’re all a bit sad and luxuriating in our last day of peace and under achieving. Angus and Becks achieved a faultless gybe yesterday while Stew and I slept on. The only damage found was in the stack pack where the genny sheet has worn a small hole on the outboard side of the canvas (non structural).

Life on board has moments of great joy for example when the deck wash appears on the foredeck and a good “ swim “ is a great cooling off moment . With the added luxury of a fresh water rinse to follow.

Whist school has established itself to finish happy hour off and set us up for the night. Stew learning too fast and won the day on Monday. We will have to try harder and keep him in his place.

Wildlife remains sparse , Angus was reading Mum and Dad’s log of their crossing in Dyarchy when there appears to have been continuous wildlife. However we were joined by a young gannet who was perfecting his diving skills and actually achieved quite a good supper before he flew on. He was obviously in a moulting stage as he had gaps on his wing in his primaries.

Stew also had a petrel who landed on the hood and accompanied him for half his watch at least we were able to give someone a ride.

Martin says our AIS is not working . Following a certain amount of reading the instructions, never opened before , and deep study of the lights on the machine we discover it’s been on silent (gone from blue to green). Hopefully normal services are now available.
