It was a real roly poly night last night with
squalls coming through at about 30 knts from 15knts and the waves were bashing
us about a bit.Boat speed was going from 5.5knts to 9knts,our daily run was
154nm(the day before we managed 168nm) We had shortened sail overnight to make
our passage more comfortable and to save wear and tear on the boat as we do
experience breakages when the boat is pushed too hard.As it is we are well into
the top half of our group about 40nm in front of the next Jeanneau 45 but its
not a race.
Just as I was writing this we caught a fish two in
fact within 20 min of one another,let me tell you catching the blighters is the
easy part getting them on board is the difficult bit,they jump around all over
the place.Our method is which we learnt a long time ago from a very talented
fisher women called Bon is to treat the to a drop of gin through the gills they
go off to the land of nod quite happily if somewhat dead.We use the cheap
gin.
I wont go into the gory details of gutting
needless to say that is the skippers job,slippery fish a rolling boat it's not
easy.Apart from the fact that one of the crew put abend in one of our spinnaker
poles last night and we have a noise coming from our steering pulleys which we
are investigating everything is well on board.
