It was 35 miles to the first group of islands in Los Aves and the
navigation was tricky between the reefs and the shallows. Jimmy and I
went to photograph the red footed booby birds and got bitten by bugs for
our trouble and then had a snorkel on one of the reefs.
I added to my discomfort by burning my side with boiling water, too much
time on catamarans must have made me complacent on things staying put,
they don't on a monohull even at anchor.
