After departing Bora Bora on Wednesday morning intending
to make a stop at Maupiti we were forced to sail on overnight to Maupihaa due to
a large southerly swell making the pass at Maupiti untenable.
Very glad to be safely anchored up here in the lagoon
when we were hit by a large and persistant front yesterday with wind gusts in
excess of 40kn, torrential rain as well as thunder and lightning. It swung
around from the Southeast to West and then back around to have another go at
us.
3 boats had just left the lagoon heading West and I did
not envy them.
It looks like we will be here for a few days while this
crazy weather passes. The next couple of days should be very light winds so more
than likely more storms too.
