It has been a quiet couple days in our corner of the Atlantic. Good winds, no big surprises, and the boat continues to sail beautifully. There was a lot of VHF chatter in the first day, but that has dropped off as we’ve left land behind. Some seasickness (just me, and not as severe as on the way down to Las Palmas), but aside from that we’ve settled into a pretty good routine. On DZ, we’ve been heading steadily S-SW, following the traditional route that dips towards the Cape Verdes before turning towards St Lucia. Typically this track offers steadier winds than the direct route. According to our knot log, we’ve traveled 440 NM, which is more than the 150 NM per day that I was hoping we could make, and the forecast ahead looks promising. The highlight of Day 1 was dolphins playing near the boat. |
