Maiden Voyage

Having left England on 19 July, we have spent
several days sorting the boat out and then left Civitaveccia on Saturday 23
July, bound for the Isola di Giannutri, the Southernmost of the Tuscan Islands
(the largest of which is Elba). As the pictures show, we had a cracking
sail, beam reach with 7 knots of boat speed and the 30 miles passed very
quickly, in beautiful sunshine. The only disappointment was the fishing -
with two lines out we didn't catch a thing, and while anchoring at Giannutri
managed to wrap one of the lines around the prop. Charlie has spent a
good hour (not meaning he enjoyed it!) under the boat today cutting it
free. Fortunately the water is crystal clear - it would have been a
tougher job on the Deben!
Pip enjoyed being in control!
