I couldn't resist posting these on the web page. As
we came in to Bequia, we were met by a photographer in a tiny rib who took some
great photos. It's very rare to great good photos of your boat actually under
sail so we are really pleased with these. The great thing is we now have a CD of
19 top quality images for use later (don't ask how much!).
1. Reaching in to Admiralty Bay in 20 knots of
breeze.
 2. Powering on.
 3. Cheesy grins all round!
 We are both really enjoying Bequia and taking the
opportunity to look around the island. We went to a turtle sanctuary today where
a local guy finds eggs as they hatch and then rears the young (that don't make
it into the water) for 2 years before 'launching' them back at the beaches where
they will come back to lay in the future. We then walked to some remote beaches
on the windward side of the island where there are no roads and consequently no
people. It's great to know that you can still find the Caribbean essentially
unchanged (no slaves now) if you are prepared to make the effort.
Sadly we are stuck here until a minor repair in the
genoa is completed (I told him not to rush - which means never around here). So
we will continue to suffer. Up the mast tomorrow for a rig check (get winching
Teg) and a few other jobs to do.
Next stop will be Frienship Bay on the S side of
the island (about an hour's walk but 3 hr sail) and then probably on to Mustique
where we hear Mick Jagger is jamming in a local cafe. We will obviously offer a
trip out in the boat if we meet him coz he doesn't get out much.
I suppose if you are sickened by all this you can
just pull the plug out (we can't because we'd sink).
