11 Dec 13.17.80N 57.38.70W We were on track to make landfall this evening until another stainless steel wire in thd steering gear snapped on Friday at 22.00. The big wave event that caused this also took out our auto pilot which meant having to use the emergency tiller to steer (very hard work so one hour rota) thru to daybreak when we started making and fitting a replacememt linkage in dyneema, a high tech rope. We are now pacing ourselves for an 8am Monday arrival, travelling at a sedate 6kts, 3 reefs in the mainsail in 18=25kt winds and a 3=4m swell.@
