The main drive shaft on our water driven electricity generator has sheared and I've just had a call with the UK manufacturer that has confirmed that a running repair isn't possible. Our plan now for keeping the batteries charged is to run the engine four hours every day and hope for more sunshine for the solar panels. But there are knock on impacts. The menu plan will now focus on what is in the freezer so that we can switch it off asap. Fishing is less of a priority while we work our way through the contents of the freezer. And fresh water production will be reduced so no more drench showers. However running the engine means hot water so at least the showers will be warm rather than cold as they have been so far.
