Day 1 Night 1

Day 1 was full on.  Quite heavy seas and strong winds.  Qing happily surfed down the waves, touching 16 knots at one point.  We all felt queasy at one time or another, despite the anti-sickness patches behind our ears.  Still we made good progress averaging and after hot pizza for supper, David and I started the first watch at 8 while Sophie and Tristan got some rest.   We did have a few jiybes in the dark, but nothing broken. The main problem was staying awake once the adrenalin subsided.

It’s now Monday afternoon, the sun’s out, the wind has dropped a bit and the sea is much calmer.  Big relief!  We can see just ne other boat right now a mile or so to our North, but we can see from the tracker system where the others are.  We think we’re doing ok so far!

Now to see if I can get this posting up onto the blog...
