562 miles done

On my (Steve) and Sam's 12am to 3am shift last night we saw very little in terms of boat activity. Our nearest vessel passed over the horizon some 15 miles away - we could not see it but just got a weird glow on the clouds from all the lights. We did however spot land for the first time as the far distant lights of northern spain created a nice glow on the horizon ahead of us. We also passed the 500 mile mark sometime around 4am and despite our intention to mark it with some kind of naff ceremony (on these graveyard shifts you need something to keep you occupied) we ended up completely forgetting, Still it was a momentous moment in of itself.

In stark contrast when Andy and Will came on at 3am they had a flurry of activity dodging container ships and the early morning fishing vessels, and they managed to get the sails out and sail a bit which gave us down below a bit of a break from the engine drone.

We are now just an hour or so from A Coruna and looking forward to turning the engine off, having a shower and then doing some exploring.

We are now also back in phone signal territory so I will try to update instagram at zome point with some of the highlights of the last few days (sailing_tinman).

We have a long list of jobs to get through whilst we are in port but we should have some time to chill and see the town. Our skipper, Glenn, has been brilliant and is really knowledgeable about a lot of things so whereas some of these things would take us a while to figure out thankfully we have his expertise we should rattle through the jobs in no time.
