A short presentation of the crew for those who have been following us recently:

⁃ Luca the owner, who fulfills the dream of a lifetime

⁃ Francesco the Captain,  used to long voyages with 1 round the world trip under his belt

⁃ Vincenzo the sailor, who perfectly combines already acquired sailing skills with the desire to learn more and more

⁃ Jasper, expert America's Cup racer, who takes care of all the strategy

⁃ Nick,  on his “ just” 28th Atlantic crossing and a great expert on… everything!

⁃ Momo, a great sailing enthusiast who wants to experience this adventure

⁃ Beau, completely new to sailing but also well motivated

⁃ Gianluca, also inexperienced but full of enthusiasm, joy and desire to do. He’s also our “Media Manager”

And finally is me writing, Vaifra, the only woman on board, here to cook for everyone. I don't lack experience (5th crossing ) but more used to catamarans than boats so "let's hope I can manage".

The first night was quiet, nothing to report I would say. We are still in the process of  getting into the rhythm of the ship and get used to living together in large numbers in a (relatively) confined spaces. 

This morning we had a nice and cheerful breakfast with pancakes which Nick defined as "the missing link between English pancakes and those Americans." I didn't even know they were different, I think it's a bit like the piadina from Ravenna or  from Rimini.

Then , after breakfast,  while we were enjoying the silence, or rather the sound of the wind in the red big gennaker, we had a broach that threw us violently onto the starboard side, among those who shot themselves out of the cabin like Super Goofy from the cabin telephone  and those who were already on deck the moment was managed really well. After all... a rush of morning adrenaline is always good for the coronary arteries, right?

È d’obbligo una piccola presentazione dell’equipaggio per chi ci segue da poco:

⁃ Luca l’Armatore, che corona il sogno di una vita

⁃ Francesco il Comandante, ormai habitué di lunghe navigazioni con 1 giro del mondo alle spalle

⁃ Vincenzo il marinaio, che combina perfettamente capacità veliche già acquisite a voglia di imparare sempre di più 

⁃ Jasper, esperto regatante di America’s Cup, che si occupa di tutta la strategia

⁃ Nick, “solo” alla sua 28^ traversata atlantica e grande esperto di… tutto!

⁃ Momo, grande appassionato di vela che desidera vivere questa avventura 

⁃ Beau, totalmente digiuno di vela ma anche lui ben motivato

⁃ Gianluca, anche lui poco esperto ma ricco di entusiasmo, allegria e voglia di fare. Nonché nostro Media Manager

◦ Infine ci sono io che sto scrivendo, Vaifra, unica donna di bordo, qui per cucinare per tutti. L’esperienza non mi manca (5 traversate atlantiche) sono più abituata ai catamarani che alle barche quindi “io speriamo che me la cavo”dai. 

La prima notte è stata tranquilla, nulla da segnalare direi. Siamo ancora in rodaggio, in attesa di prendere il ritmo di bordo ed abituarci alla convivenza numerosa in spazi (relativamente) ristrettì, stamattina abbiamo fatto una bella ed allegra colazione con pancakes che Nick ha definito “l’anello mancante tra i pancakes inglesi e quelli americani”. Io non sapevo nemmeno fossero differenti, penso che sia un po’ come la piadina di Ravenna o quella di Rimini. 

Poi dopo colazione belli sereni mentre ci godevamo il silenzio, anzi il suono del vento nell grande e rosso gennaker, abbiamo fatto una straorza che ci ha buttati violentemente sulla fiancata destra, tra chi si è sparato fuori dalla cabina come super Pippo dalla cabina del telefono e chi era già in coperta il momento è stato gestito veramente bene. In fondo… uno scarico di adrenalina mattutina fa sempre bene alle coronarie no?
