Date: Tuesday, 07 December [12:30 UTC] This was Tuesday’s blog which failed to upload. Wednesday’s to follow shortly. Facts and figures:
We are now 1267 miles away from St Lucia and we are now firmly in the grasp
of the E-NE trade winds. For two days now, we have been able to maintain good
daily runs of 140 and 134 miles respectively. The weather is absolutely fantastic with bright and strong sunshine and
little cloud cover. Care is being taken not to get too exposed to the strong UV
rays (directly and indirectly) whilst on deck. We are still running before the wind with both head-sails. We may need to
drop the windward head-sail and go on to a broad reach ensuring that we maintain
good direction for St Lucia. A steady E-NE F5 wind is propelling us along. Lots of flying fish launching themselves into the air in their attempt to
get away from us as we bear down on top of them. No dolphins or other forms of
life apparent. Some signs of life on-board though! Spirits on-board very good. Exhilarating sailing which is one of the
reasons we all opted to do this trip! No antics to report unfortunately much to the relief of the crew! Kind regards from Skipper Ivan and the crew. |
