We had a visit from our first pod of dolphins on Tuesday morning. Approximately 20 dolphins swam in our bow wave and performed many acrobatic tricks to entertain the crew of ‘Ocean Hobo’.

There is little or no bird life and we have not seen any other forms of wild life as yet.

We were called up by another ARC yacht called ‘Selivra’ (Jeaneau Sun Odessey 42). He caught up with us and passed astern taking a more southerly route.

We have maintained a course of 242 degrees(true) and the winds are still light and easterly. We continue to use the twin running headsails in addition to the mizzen sail. Sailing downwind with this sail configuration is working very well.

The skies are clear and it is warm. We are in the Canary current which is giving us 1 knot of S/W going current.

Closest land is still Mauritania on the west coast of Africa and 160 miles behind us.

The crew have settled in well to the watch system are managing to sleep when they are off watch during the night.

The single side-band radio is working, but we are unable to connect to the ‘Sailmail’ system to send/receive emails. If you have sent emails to the MVLW2#sailmail.com (replacing @ with # as we don’t want spam or phishing emails to come through), then please resend these to the Oceanhobo#mailasail.com (remember to replace the # with @).

Kind regards from the Skipper and the crew.
