A decision was taken on Monday to continue sailing due south as a low was developing and tracking east. This was to avoid the likely possibility of head winds over the next few days. We expected light NE winds and got them. We continued sailing down the Mauritania coast and we were within 40 miles until late Tuesday night when we changed our course to SW/W. We hope to maintain this course throughout Tuesday 23/11.

The forecast for Wednesday 24/11 is showing the winds going to the north as the low tracks off north.

Wind has been NE F3-4 occasionally F5, Sea state slight to moderate with a swell of 1 meter.

We believe that we are most likely the most easterly yacht in the race.

The skipper found a bird in Mike’s cabin yesterday and gave him a severe telling-off! We had a small and very tired bird land on-board and it was clear that it wasn’t well. The bad news is that the little bird died despite being very well cared for by the crew. The good news is that Dermot and Ivan had the drum-sticks – could you beat that!

The crew are all well and happy.

More blogs to follow.

Kind regards from the Skipper and the crew.
