Ua Pou

We arrived in the bay of Hakahetau on Thursday evening.  We slowed down our arrival a bit as we had a handsome Yellow Fin tuna - 3/4 kg  - on our line - the YoYo again.  The meatballs (planned evening meal) were hastily put back in the freezer and Jean prepared the magnificent fish for supper - we had Polynesian poisson cru with coconut milk.  The bay is beautiful with the atmospheric volcanic pinnacles rising up above (there are 12 in total on the island).  We played Bridge and collapsed into bed around 10.00 pm.  The following morning we set off into the village of Hakahetau in search of the Cascade which we tracked down eventually and it was great - a proper cascade with a bathing pool and NO-ONE else there. Wonderful.  We returned to the boat for more tuna for lunch - this time cut into Finger Filets and served with cabbage and finished off with flambéed bananas.

This evening we are setting off for the Tuamotos - this will be a 4 day/3 night sail.
