Hurrah! A major milestone achieved. At around 0500 UTC we crossed the 1,000 miles to go mark. I think its safe to say that none of us expected to use the words ‘only’ and ‘one thousand miles’ in the same sentence regarding sailing. The cockpit instruments are unable to register distances greater than 999.9 miles so for good or bad we are now able to dwindle away the night hours watching the distance very slowly reduce. One of the small yachts has had the skipper evacuated for a medical emergency that we understand to be of the mental health variety. As I have some small professional interest in such matters, and as the ships medical officer, I have been put in charge of Pauls psych evaluation and medication. I think a small amount of diazepam in the dinner should suffice for now. A beautiful day today with 20knots from the east, we are making good progress with the heavy kite although we remain with a double reefed main sail to protect the damaged rig.
