Hello as you have probably gathered by now each day a different crew member writes the blog and today it is my turn (Sarah). Yesterday was extremely hot with light winds which made progress slow but things picked up after dusk and we made good progress overnight. Val and I saw another yacht on the 8 -11 shift but apart from that it was an uneventful night sailing wise. I was however, delighted to be greeted with a chorus of Happy Birthday sung by the rest of the crew when I arrived for the 2-5am shift! Celebratory chocolate was definitely called for! We hoisted the spinnaker at 8am and although in these light winds it is difficult to fly we hope to break the sub 500 miles to St Lucia today. It seems that light winds during the day and better conditions at night are the pattern for the next few days. We are all well and in good spirits – I am particularly excited at the prospect of a birthday wash and meatballs for tea!!! Best wishes Sarah and all on Intemperance x
