38:47.000N 009:25.000W  Yesterday we went to sintra and we went to two different sights one called Moorish castle and the other called the palace of pena.

Firstly we got a bus from cascais to sintra. And we all had reasonable clothes on for going on a walk and then when we got on the bus then dawn told us oh did i forget to mention the news paper said its the coldest day of the year. it took us about 40 minutes to get there.

When we got there it was absolutely freezing so we went to a cafe at the bottom of a hill and we ordered hot chocolates. But these hot chocolates were not hot chocolates they didn’t have any chocolate in them it was like warm milk which tastes really horrible. But the cafe had the best pastries I don’t know what it was about them they were amazing.

Secondly we went to Moorish castle you could walk on the top of the walls like in the Great Wall of China. It was built sometime in the 9th century and it was occupied by Arabs. It was an excellent observation post for monitoring the coastline.

Next we went to the palace of pena it was built as a holiday home for queen Dona Maria ii and king don Fernando ii. What I found really interesting was that one of the guides said that all the people in the palace used to sleep on a load of cushions on their back. They would never lie flat on their bed because they thought that that would kill them.

It was really exciting going to a palace i’d never been to a palace before.

When we got back to the bus station it was absolutely freezing. We were walking back with frozen hands and feet it was so cold but when we got back we put the fan heater on and it was really nice and cosy.
