Well I am really enjoying Portugal, surprisingly very different from Spain. Most people seem to know some English and are more communicative than the Spanish. \the port we are in is a large industrial port full of container ships which me and dawn seem to prefer than the fishing villages, there is much more things to do. At lunch time the local shopkeepers set up barbecues in the road and sell grilled sardines which is cool. Last night Andrea's friend called Jorge took us out for dinner to a fantastic local fish restaurant. It was a traditional family restaurant and we all loved it. Then a night tour of Porto which is a beautiful city definitely a place to re visit. It made all the difference being shown around by someone who obviously loves the place so much thanks Jorge

The other day dad was feeling a bit queasy so while we were out he went to one someone else’s boat and got some hot toddies. He got a bit  drunk that when he came back he didn’t have any dinner he just collapsed on the bed

Last night we went to a traditional Portuguese restaurant .dawns friend George took us there we were very happy that he did because he is local so we would never of found this restaurant without him. there was an outdoor grill were are fish was cooked it wasn’t cooked in the kitchen.we had flat fish and angry seabass the angry sea bass was amazing.but the flat fish was out of this world.

After dinner we wnt on a tour around porto,George drove us and showed us all these sculptures, one was that shaped like a jellyfish that we drove round once.He also took us to a portugese synagogue that had a star of david outside. Happy Birthday Mum – We celebrated in style last night, with Jorge, who as you can see from the above, treated us to a fantastic evening out in Porto. It is so much better having someone local to show you around and order the right things from the menu. Thank you Jorge and hope to see you on Sunday for a sail.

The week has flown by with trips to the beaches for surfing and more work on the boat to mend the autopilot.(did get a break for a luxury pedicure though) Weather is variable with a stormy sea and big swells keeping us in port. Lots of monopoly games going on too.

Porto is a beautiful city set on the steep sides of the river valley, with numerous high level bridges, a lot like Newcastle. Very interesting modern architecture too.
