Dear All, We are now poised for departure on the trans-Atlantic leg having done the last minute shopping, etc.  We'll fuel and pay tomorrow morning and the sail to the most south westerly island in the group, La Hierro, about 120 miles away.  After a night there there will be nothing between us and either Barbados or Antigua.  Wish us luck with the weather, which our forecast says will be pretty benign for the first few days at least.

All on board are in fine spirits.  A drive this afternoon took us to the highest point on this very dramatic island, 6000ft above the sea.  The road down was not one you'd like to to take home from the pub on a Saturday nightbut we got back safely and lad a last meal ashore.

Touch wood the boat seems pretty much ready now so if noboby breaks anything we'll be setting off in good shape.  We hope to post messages on this site every few days though in all truth there may not be much to report apart from the huge fish which Peter Holden is planning to catch daily.
