Buoy N Sea is scheduled to depart with the high tide at 2:30PM on Sunday, November 18th. This will be our last post from land.

We intend to post regular updates to this blog while at sea. The blogging site we are using also allows us to send our coordinates and have them plotted on the map.

This is made possible through the smart use of a water proof digital camera, an Iridium Satellite phone, a laptop, and compression software from Mailasail. Note that the data transmission rate on the Sat phone is 2400bps and airtime charges are astronomically high ($3-$5/minute). Therefore, our posts will include more text than pics. When we return, we will post links to many more higher resolution pictures and video taken both at sea and in St. Martin. Various reasons may explain why we are unable to communicate directly from sea. Rough weather may preoccupy us, electronic equipment may fail. If that happens, we will be in communication with Trish on land who will be able to post updates.

We're all very excited and a bit restless waiting to get underway.
