The 21st Day of November, 2012

Infiniti

Hi, Hello, How are You?, Good Day, Greetings, and Salutations to all,
From all of us aboard S.V Infiniti, Huge Hugs, Colossal Kisses and the odd
handshake,

Once again please take the greetings as it pertains to how you like it. No
political correctness in our kingdom. One of the best things about being
out in the middle of the Atlantic is after safety? The law is how you like
it. No text messages, no phone calls, no twenty four hour TV. The news we
get are the odds and ends that our friends send us. Nothing to affect our
lives but the sun and wind. The weather is another beautiful day today with
a bit of cotton ball type, fluffy clouds (Dan calls Caribbean clouds) far
off on the horizon. No squalls at all today. The sea is the deepest blue
with only slight swells and a cool breeze. We are currently alternating
between sailing and motor sailing. We have rolled out the genoa for the
first time since our hydraulic failure. Due to wind direction, we cannot use
the spinnaker. Our speed is between six and eight knots. Now that you are
caught up on the basics, now for the juicy bits. As we ate dinner on deck
last night, to the setting of a most beautiful sun, I had commented that it
was a good thing a fish did not take the bait. Who wants to get up from the
dinner table to reel in a twelve pound Mahi Mahi? LOL, The fish must have
heard me, as soon as the plates were picked up, FISH-ON!! Since we were
taking no chances, I picked up the rod and proceeded to reel in that same
twelve pound Mahi. It must have liked me because we got this one aboard. I
will give Dan his due, he was fearlessly on the swim step to secure it and
welcome it aboard. He is now in beautiful fileted fashion and resting
comfortably in the fridge. Guess who's coming for dinner? You guessed. We
have yet to tell Mr Mahi but he has got the idea. Today's engineering
project was to modify a winch handle that will do a complete 360' turn on
the genoa furler. As I explained before, the rail prevents a standard handle
to rotate completely. It was a very long and frustrating project that could
have been done in my garage in thirty minutes or less to perfection. We
managed a fair facsimile in about five hours of cutting, drilling, tapping.
With only a drill, grinder, and screwdriver. Suffice it to say I missed my
tools deeply. The question is would I miss my tools that much? Did I
mention the colour of the sea? Dinner on deck under the most beautiful
sunset? Sailing or tools, hmmm I think not. We are beginning the downhill
leg of the trip. As of lunch time today, we went under eight hundred miles
to go. Five or six days until we arrive back to civilisation. Don't know
if we will laugh or cry..
The moustache wars are also coming to a close soon. We have a website ready
and all it needs are the pictures. Look for it next week. You will then have
time to comment on the crews facial hair grooming attire for Movember. (
Remember Americans, we did it in 1776 and 1812. We can do it again.)

Our Sincerest Love and Undying gratitude for following our voyage,
The Crew of The Sailing Vessel Infiniti
