Dear Readers,

It is now our fourth day at sea and we are settling into a routine.  We are now in the proper trade winds which are blowing 15 - 20 knots from dead astern.  This makes for easy sailing in a beautiful boat like Gwylan and we are making a steady 8 knots, almost in the right direction.

We are now sailing under white sails, including the staysail.

The next way point (20 degrees North 30 degrees West) is about 300 miles away.

The fleet has spread out now so the VHF chatter from other boats has almost died out and we have seen just one ship all day.

Due to the thorough preparation all our systems are working well so we can spend time addressing low priority tasks :

* Nicky has found that the ice tray needs fixing,
* Lara has taught Tom the Dutch card game Farmer's Bridge,
* Charles has finished another one of his books,
* Carsten has caught up on some sleep and is having such a good time that he didn't even bother taking his sunglasses off,
* James has had an amazing new experience, a hot shower on a sailing boat,
* At the daily sunsight competiton Tom lost his crown as King of Astro Navigation, but will be back in action tomorrow,
* Lucky the Bear also has been given the day off, so he spent his time slung up in a hammock along with the bananas in the saloon,
* The new flat screen TV is going to be put through its paces with a showing of 'The Incredibles' this evening.

Fishing resumes tomorrow as we finished the last of the dolphin fish at lunch.  We saw our first flying fish to-day jumping out of the waves just in front of the boat.

Wishing you all the best,

The Crew of the Good Yacht Gwylan
