"Timing is EVERYTHING".......and "EVERYTHING we ever need is provided"........seems we humans will come up with a "ufamisim".....or is that an "oxymoron"...for just about EVERYTHING?..... Our week in George Town for maintenance and catch up has involved right timing, and necessary provisions........this small city is on the south end of Great Exuma Island, and has been a perfect landing and regrouping for us as we prepare to begin our route south to Grenada......we have discovered that our original plan of staying in Luperon for Hurricane Season will not be allowed by the insurance coverage we have....so Grenanda is just south of latitude 11'30.12 our "box boundary". As timing would have it, also here at the harbor, and sitting on the door step of the propane suppliers shop we went to was a man wearing ........a university of Grenada ball cap......conversation starter......"I see your hat, have you been to Grenada? ....."actually, that's where I came from a couple of months ago...my partner loved it so much when she sailed there, she bought a home there....."......." wow, that's where we are going...we'd love to get together and hear any thing you would share"......great.......the natural and polite response in this community is......"and where are you headed?"......his response was the last place I would have imagined......"we are going to Alabama, there is a boat yard in Demopolis that does Sand blasting on steel boats"........ha, ha, ha......"that's where we just came from a couple of months ago".......our response was the last thing he expected......and there it was......a common thread...EVERYTHING you ever need is provided.....and the timing of both our arrival at the propane shop was everything.....the proprietor of the shop was not even in....sign on the door says open till five, and he had just told our new friend, Hal, ill be right back........his leaving, Hals waiting, and our arriving......timing is everything......we enjoyed a couple of evenings with Hal, who had constructed their 50+foot steel boat, and Inga, who had hiked and bicycled across a good portion of Africa, and spent time in India.....we are meeting the most interesting people out here on the high seas......spending a week in George Town our paths crossed with perfect timing with quite a few different people......there was Keith, the bartender at Eddies Edge water, a deli-bar-Internet spot....he shared the name of a local chiropractor......Ron threw his back out lifting up and twisting to get it aboard from the bouncing dingy, a Jerry can of water.....yes there was free water at the dingy dock.....everything we needed was provided.....Keith also gave us Cliffords name, a taxi driver who picked us up to take us to the local DR, who shows up on Thursdays.....Clifford in turn made a copy of some of the local music for us.....all songs about sailing.....we will miss the local Bahamas regatta to be held the last week of April.......the people of this island are extremely friendly, helpful, and very...I mean very laid back.....speaking with a local lady who ran a small art gallery about getting supplies onto the island.....she said "we have to be very patient....."perhaps this is the root of "island time".......there's nothing to do about anything you are waiting for......except be patient.....it will get here, when it gets here .......and there is no questioning the timing, just complete acceptance of...... if you don't have it, you don't need it.........each way of life has it's own perspectives on EVERYTHING........we had a productive visit in George Towns Elizabeth Harbor....spending time in Kidd Cove and at Sand Dollar anchorages.....all beautiful spots....with still about 100 boats in the harbor.......winter season here sees over 500 boats at one time.....a village assembles here for winter, and then about this time of year, packs up and leaves....to return next season....so many ways to live life..........we accomplished a few of the items on our maintenance list, stocked up on supplies, said our goodbyes and thank yous, and put in the way points to our next destination........Rum Cay
