Got up at 3 am to do my watch .With no wind we had been motoring along all night and all day . Then after breakfast we thought we had a fresh water leak so we ripped the table and floor up in the saloon to check. With that problem solved we finally arrived in Kinsale, ireland to top up on fuel and water. After some lunch and a walk round kinsale we set off on the next leg of our journey to spain. Still with no wind we were motoring along for about 4 hours when suddenly the engine just stopped. Within seconds Pete, Doug and Gaz were on the job. Not only had the engine stalled but we also had a broken water pipe. After an hour we managed to fix the problem with some temporary measures , skipper Pete decided that returning to kinsale for repairs was our only option. Arriving back at 8pm we were told the engineer was not available till this morning the decision was then made that some alcohol then bed was the answer. Got up today at 6 still waiting on engineer,Pete and Dug did some fishing. As you will see from the picture the moodie brothers showed us they are still master's of big game fishing . (zoom in on pic to see what I mean). More to come Soon

Big shout out to fi, mum dad uncle billy and the boys at the raploch.
Missing you all Gary

DAY 3

Engines going all night. Pete had the helm wripped from his grasp at 0100hrs by Tricia and Tim. He was woken again just before 3 to be shown a very interesting land beacon but after confirming that we were not going to hit it, was allowed to return to his bed. Gary spent a restless night searching for ciggies, eventually locating a packet at 0430hrs just before taking the watch with Doug.

After breakfast it was decided to tear up the saloon floor to check for a suspected fresh water leak. Pete, Doug and Gary spent a fun couple of hours with their head in the bilges - conclusion - no leak just didn't fill the tanks properly ....... To make some use of the time the bilges were cleaned which was an outstanding effort by Gary who has now conquered the sea sickness.

Motored into Kinsale just before 1400hrs. Filled up with water and diesel before crew jumped ashore in search of Guiness and blarney.

Motored out of Kinsale - no wind but a beautiful evening. Going for nearly 2hrs before the engine died. On investigating it was discovered that the water pump hose was leaking. Pete, Doug and Gary fought manfully to fix the problem in scenes reminiscent of an engine room on a warship in a second world war movie - lots of sweat and glistening torsos. Uptop Tricia and Tim practiced their advanced light wind sailing tecniques to avoid being taken back to shore by an ebb tide. Skipper made sensible decision to motor back to Kinsale to repair hose rather than continue on 500 mile leg with bodge job. An engineer is expected for 0630hrs. Crew returned to shore for fish, chips and lager.
