Day 1

Geewizz
Mon 30 Jul 2007 13:24
Quickly under sail after leaving Largs Marina, GeeWizz's home for the last 3 years. Sunshine and force 5 in the right direction turned into a blowy roll as we hit the tidal race from the Mull of Kintyre. The 3 crew struggled to catch their sea legs but skipper Pete and first mate Doug never flinched.
Tricia and Tim had everything in hand by dinner time but Gary lost a brave fight for control of his stomach over dinner (and the side). The crew turned in just before 10 leaving Pete and Doug to a cold night. Tricia rejoined Doug at 2.30 where conversation about the Dublin Bay fishing fleet was rudely disturbed by some enthusiastic snoring from the saloon and a man overboard alarm caused by Gary rolling around in his bunk on his lifesaving tag. Tricia and Tim took over the watch from 4am under a full moon and were joined by a family of 7 or 8 dolphins for 1/2hr, playing in the wake. An average of 7 knots for the day as Pete retook the helm at 7am.

TMM crew.
