Another surprising turn of events in Ceilidh’s quest to start the 2012 ARC from Las Palmas.

All divisions except the IRC racing class have been given the option to delay their start until Tuesday 27th.

This is only the second time in the history of the event that the organisers have taken the decision to delay.

This has been due to an area of low pressure to the South giving F5-6 SW for 24-36hours. These conditions along with a 3-5metre North swell would have made conditions pretty uncomfortable for many of the boats in the fleet.

This has given us some breathing space in terms of last minute jobs and at the time of writing our Genoa is not yet back from the sailmakers!

We now have a very robust fix on the steering misalignment which was done by a local technician named Nestor who was totally professional.

We also replaced the starboard lower shroud which had 2 strands broken.

All the stores were lodaed on by 20:00 last night and everyone of the crew have put in long days to work through our lengthy jobs list.

So Ceilidh will be starting on Tuesday at 13:00 along with reportedly 80% of our class.

Further updates and photos will be given in due course.
