We’ve only gone and done it! Smiles all round as we entered Preveza channel at 0930 yesterday. 2420 nautical miles in 19.5 days with a 24 hour stop in Gibraltar and a few refuel transit stops. We had a very lively 36 hour sail across the Ionian Sea from Messina to Preveza with the wind gusting up to force 7 for much of the passage, making it fast, but wet & uncomfortable. The Italian (or was it Greek) navy treated us to an evening Top Gun display from their nearby aircraft carrier. Big celebrations and sleep on arrival yesterday, followed by the inevitable bureaucracy which is still ongoing with visits to 5 different gov departments ( in the correct order, please!). But loving it here already, the people are very friendly, the cruising grounds look enticing, it’s hot & sunny and the beer is cheap! This will be my last post until we do our next long passage. I hope you’ve found it interesting - do keep in touch or better still come and see us! Kate will continue to blog on instagram. https://instagram.com/themidlifeseawife?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Love to all Simon Noon position Tuesday 2nd August 2022 38.57.59N 20.45.38E |
