Hi all, now in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. We left
Mohammedia on Tuesday morning, not too sure where we would go next, the main
choices being Agadir, further down the Moroccan coast, and Las Palmas, a much
longer passage. Well the forecast from a couple of sites seemed favourable,
North or North-East, max 20 knots. We set off and the forecasts seemed accurate.
We soon settled down to gentle, high pressure type sailing. Wind never stronger
than Force 3, usually behind or on the quarter. Main unused and foresail poled
out usually square to the boat, steering the responsibility of the wind vane
gear. Crew had an easy time of it, much reading and resting achieved. It became
obvious that the conditions were such that if we wanted to go to Gran Canaria in
one go we could, so we did , arriving at the anchorage next to the Marina at
03.00 on Sunday morning. Las Palmas in the run-up to the Arc is a special
place...more of that in a few days.
