Hi All,

miles logged: 20
miles to go 3880 approx (ie to far to count yet)

Having finally left Torrevieja in good time on New Years day, we had a super
sail with 20 knots wind aft of beam and entered the Mar Menor just in time
for the 1400 bridge opening. Heads were slighty tender after a good supper
ashore the night before to see in 2013.

The boat went well and after picking up a mooring, we had a simple BBQ and we
enjoyed a nice relaxing evening in the company of Jinx, the resident keeper
of Isla Mayor, before spending Wednesday finally stowing final gear and
making some essential adjustments to electrical systems (such as making
compass light independent of navigation running lights and refitting the
repaired masthead wand for the wind instrument.

We (Mike via Los Belones) also managed to top up the blue gas bottles,
having failed on New Years Eve when the shop had nothing but empty bottles
to offer!

Adrian made a super curry and an early night is planned at peaceful mooring
off the nicest Island in Spain. Tomorrow we depart non stop for Gibraltar
and have a forecast of NE 4/5 with some showers.

The boat seems comfortable with her recent modifications in advance of this
passage and the crew are suitably ready for the trip ahead.

Thanks for the various SMS messages of good luck which have been received
safely via the Iridium phone. Especially to Jan and to Heather for all your
support.

Message for Peter - all well - Not rushing as survey in Gib next week as
advised for Andy.
