Dear Family and Friends.
Welcome back to Vitamin Sea at 6 PM in an overcast day with 32 Celsius and North-Easterly winds 15 to 20 knots for the day.
I would like to explain to our Family and Friends following us on YB races.
It is not nice following a boat’s friend and see how they are falling into the back of the fleet.
We never saw the ARC as a race but as the best way for us to do a safety crossing of the Atlantic Ocean.
Our boat’s sails set up is for comfort and convenience as being a double handed crew, we thought and think is right for us.
Of the 140 boats in the ARC, only about 10 are double handed. When we had handicaps given by the ARC, our boat had one of the highest handicaps of the fleet.
In addition to all that, we had to divert to Cape Verde for repairs which added another 300Nautical Miles to our passage and we had to stay four days before we were in a position to start the sailing again. In other words, if it wasn’t for our boat’s electric failure we would have arrived by now.
I know it sounds one excuse after the other but that is the way it is.
Lots of love.
Ramiro
