On passage , Tonga to Tanna, Vanuatu.

We are two days into our thousand mile passage from Tonga to Vanuatu. We left Friday lunchtime in company with Small Nest, Go Beyond and Quartermoon who are all heading for Fiji and we lost sight of them about sunset on Friday with those guys going on a more north westerley course go get through the passages of the southern fiji islands and we are going more west by south west en route to Vanuatue. We opted not to go to Fiji as our time frames didnt stretch that far and so off to Vanuatu we go.

We sailed under the headsail only up until this morning so we could get through the pass in daylight hours and once we were through, we hoisted the main to the first reef and then poled out the headsail. The conditions at the moment are just beautiful with about 13 knots of true from our stern, slight seas and making about 5.5 knots over the ground. We expect the wind to increase a bit over the next few days but until I download the weather forecast today I am not aware of anything to cause us a great deal of concern, we shall wait and see.

All well on board and I think the fact that we are now really getting closer to home means every mile we knock over is even more important. Will post as we go along, hope you are all well at home and wherever.
