17:51N 32:38W lotsa reefs 7-9knots off the wind at 265 through the night but now daybreak speeds building 8-10+knots still with the shortened sails ... wind defnitely gusting more that 24kts already but less than 30...

Other computer stopped working so no extensive blogs feasible really as this kybrd very flaky .... and no wi-fi ashore till the puter gets fixed . It might come back- not fallen as far as i know....

Progress-wise the longitude thing is obviosly the big deal - about 60W gives some islands and we can do two or three degrees per day.

It would be quite groovy and beyond uber-yottie to make landfall at Barbuda - almost nothing there at all except the pristine and almost-never-walked-on 11 mile beach, sparkling blue water near-empty anchorage and many hundreds or even thousands of frigate birds. Barbuda is flat , completely unlike other carib islands, a small settlement inland for day-trip tourism staff from Antigua 20 nm south. It has grim distant history - many slaves were landed here first and handled by the Codrington family (hence the name of the only settlement) before being moved on to other island s. Not sure why Barbuda was the best place - perhaps cos it was flat the slaves couldn't run off and hide or excape into the back country? But it's not the sort of question you can easily ask at a tourist office, not really, and I'm not gonna be going ashore what with it being a dreadful dump. What it really needs is someone to take charge of the place and er oh never mind, cancel that....
