It had to happen at some point - we found some wind and have been able to work North to get out of predicted very light winds on the more direct route we hope was taken by our competitor crews. During the night we had some good SW winds and had a lovely (if rolly) sail comforted by supper of Chicken Balti. Very good grub for a lumpy sea, using the last of our fresh Azores chicken from yesterday and nearly the last basmati.

Nothing to see all night under a waxing moon (which will be good for the rest of the the trip) save some cargo vessels with exotic names that conjure up much more romance than they deliver in real life - Spirit of Maine, Magellan Navigator and Mediterranean Clipper all passed us at some distance.

Morning had us leaping out of our bunks, full of energy and dropping the jibs and hauling out Betty the spinnaker again, who is flying beautifully in a brisk wind from the West - perfect conditions and it’s hot and sunny.

Lovely sailing, and difficult to remember that we started in Force zero.

Very little else to report - lots of sea and sky, the odd cloud and rolling wave.
