Not much wind as we
left Rarotonga, but as we got clear of the island it built steadily to about
15-20kts. Initially we had full main and the computer kite up. We put the jib
back up for the night with the wind just about behind the beam. A couple of 25kt
gusts forced us to reef early this morning, and then skipper decided it'd be fun
to have the small spinnaker up. And it was, for a few hours. We got our average
up to over 9kts for the day, and topped out at about 11.7. However, the haliard
wasn't having quite so much fun and parted at the mast. Luckily the kite was
easy to retrieve. So we're back to main and #4 jib and still making over 8kts
most of the time.
183nm in the first
24 hours of the trip, so we're making good progress.
