                | This is probably the world’s most famous fence. This runs
virtually across the bottom part of E Australia. It’s the fence that the
Australians built to exclude dingo's from about a quarter of Australia. The
fence is about 5,300 km long and the world’s longest man-made structure. It
stretched from Jimbour on the Daring Downs, near Dalby, to the cliffs of the
Nullarbor Plain on the Eyre Peninsula and goes through Queensland, New South
Wales and South Australia.  It was built to protect sheep industry from
dingo's.  It was successful but led to big increase in grass eating
kangaroos and also small feral animal like foxes, thee have predated on smaller
mammal so that lot of species are now endangered. Being top predator dingo kept
smaller predators and kangaroo numbers down. Now a big debate going on as to
whether to reintroduce dingo’ or keep them excluded.  If you are really
interested read this (hope the link works!)   Role of dingo in Australia or Are dingo's a trophic predator all very
fascinating! Dingo barrier Fence about 8 km west of Injun. ![m_004[1] m_004[1]](/ul/blog/mailasail.com/oystermoon@mailasail.com/305/jpghG0AEM2OSi.jpg) |
