Good morning land based peoples.

I hope this finds you well and healthy. IDEA is plodding along on her
course as usual although last night was anything but usual. Despite the
fact that it came in later than forecasted the fog eventually settled in
over our heads and laid an impenetrable blanket of nothingness down on our
course.

It was quite an eerie sensation to know that there are dozens of other
boats, most of them much larger than we, near at hand yet impossible to see.
Visibility was reduced to about 300 - 400 meters at most and thank god for
technology because without the AIS system we have on board it would have
been a very long scary night of wondering.

Another aspect of the fog is the way it distorts and muffles noises. You
hear things from a direction other than where they originate at times. It
reflects light back into your face, so you world is reduced to the radius of
your own lights. Eerie.

BUT - We lived through it. The stars eventually came back out and soon
enough the sun rose on another morning. For us it's almost lunch time now
and there are some yummy smells issuing from the galley, so we will leave
you to stuff our faces.
